Today when I came home I looked in my tank and noticed one of my african cichlids was twitching head first on the bottom. For the past week it was hiding in the plants and looked like it was breathing a little heavy. I took it out and it died a few minutes later. It was one of the smaller ones about 1"( It was a all black fish then yesterday it looked greyish with black bars). Most of the others are about 2-3 ". Also I had another fish I think a small bircardi ( tanish color fish with blue around the eyes and white tip tail fins ) not to sure what the whole name is. It also was about 1 " in size. I can not find it in my 75 gallon tank. Yesterday I did a water change and rearranged the bottom (made a rock pile with the rocks I had in the tank. I looked for a while and still can't find it. It use to sit close to the top of the water and eat with the others when I fed them. Does anyone know what may be going on? (maybe thinning out the weak) I now have a total of 9 cichlids (mbuna). I have to get some more this weekend.

do not get more until you know what going on, Mr. millionaire. BTW: are you keeping up with water changes?
first, find out what's up before you add more fish.

It sounds like the fish are getting stressed. Check your water. PH, KH, GH, Ammonia, Nitrite & Nitrate.

Have you added any new fish in to the tank recently ?

Maybe use a broad spectrum fish remedy to eliminate the common nasties. Check for white spot.
