Purchased this tiger oscar on july 15th 2021 at 2-3/4" long. He's was added to a 55 gal tank grow out with another small oscar and a female jd. He's since then grown at a ridiculous rate(as have all the fish in this particular tank).
I feed 3 to 4 times a day switching between raw shrimp, frozen blood worms, live red wiggler worms and night crawlers for at least 1 feeding daily. The other feedings are fairly small and consist of 4 or 5 pellets of Hikari floating or omega one cichlid pellet. 3 days a week he gets whatever algae wafer I have at the time. Every couple weeks I'll go 1 day where I feed one time in the morning of the algae wafer if I don't skip good altogether.
As far as where changes go I do 75-90% water changes every other day. I believe this possibly has more to do with his growth than the food honestly. My other tanks I typically do about a 50% where change every 4 or 5 days and feed only 2 times a day. That is how I typically run my tanks. This do around with this group of fish I decided to see how it went with heavy feeding and large water cha ges. The difference is huge.
I will attempt to post monthly to keep a log of Debo the Oscar.
