what is wrong with my snapping turtle? it seems as if his shell is decaying or something. its like little peices of his shell are flaking off but he doesn't seem faized by it at all. is it because he is wild? i will upload pics later

is that all because he is fairly small and he has been doing this his whole life that we have had him
Yeah that's how my snapper was when she was a baby. It's just layers of keratin or something shedding off. Nothing to worry about....your turtle should grow out of it.
