Not sure if this is supposed to be in the photo lounge or not. please move if it is.

Anyways I am looking for a decent D-slr camera to snap pictures of my tanks and to for a general use.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to a decent camera for the bucks. Looking to spend around 500$ maybe a bit more.

Found this on bestbuys website, can anyone comment on it?

I have the panasonic lumix, which I think would be comparable to what you posted. I got it for around $300.00 about a year or less ago. Love it, and if I were smart enough to actually sit down and read the manual (not that it's not user friendly it is, but I hate reading directions so I'm sure there's a ton of stuff I could do and just do not know about) I'm sure I would really be able to give it some glowing reviews.

Whichever you decide just remember that the one you have chosen does not have a lens. So you'll need to find out what lens to get with it. B/c that's going to cost extra. I'm not sure how pics would turn out without a lens.

If I were you, I would pick up a nice Canon body...XTi, preferably, and spend the bulk of your budget on lenses and flashes.

I don't know much about the DSLRs but I'm planning on getting the Nikon D3000 It's a body and lens. and I saw the review on Attack of the show and they say it's VERY user friendly and based more for the beginer dslr user. and it's only $550.

but like I said I don't know dlsrs but I know when I buy mine this is what I'm getting first.

Acutally there is a package deal at walmart. $499, Nikon D3000 comes with 18-55mm VR (vibration reduction) Lens. 2gb card and carry bag. It was very tempting. Not a bad deal for DSLR.

Also you guys can check out cameralabs.com, Im still doing research (about 6 months now) on DSLR's until I can make up my mind. cameralabs.com has great indepth reviews on just about any DSLR.:headbang2
