I have a 55 gallon aquarium and I am wondering what light would be good for growing plants what type of plant I am Not sure. My next question is with a normal aquarium lid will a grow light fit?
I see some people with no lid on their tanks but I have found that's just way too much water evaporation for me.

The type of lighting will depend on the types of plants desired. Please read the stickies for more information. As far as evaporation goes, I setup auto drip systems on all of my open top aquariums.

Thanks just bought a light hopfuly getting it next week. Also buying a new tank because my top center brace is broken and the tank is bowing out a little bit. I've had it like this for awhile but I don't want to risk it anymore. Going to have a fresh tank, fresh lights, fresh plants and a long set up should be fun already thinking of some ideas of what I'm going to do with the aquascape

Sounds like fun... Nothing beats setting up a new tank... Especially a planted one :)
