When doing water changes, do you add your dechlorinator before, during, or after adding the fresh water? Was just thinking about how much of a difference it would make.

I use a garden hose attached to my sink. I add about half of the dechlorinator during the fill and half after. *shrug* I haven't noticed any difference from when I added it all before, or even when I did it in each bucket before adding them. I think I would add it beforehand though if I were using water with chloramines instead of chlorine - not sure if it would make a difference, but I have heard that it takes a bit longer for the dechlorinator to work.
When I do a water change on my 135, I have been adding during the fill up process. A little at a time directly into the flow of fresh water. Idk if it makes a difference or not.
I add the conditioner in right after I turn on the hose. It is filling straight from the sink and never had any problem. I have it slightly warmer than the tank. Certain fishes are more sensitive such as this upside down catfish I had. I had to put the conditioner in before the water is turned on. That catfish would spin circles if you don't put it in ahead of time. It always came right out of it when the conditioner was added. If you keep sensitive fishes, conditioning the water in a bucket before adding it to the tank would be better.
I add it in a minute before i start filling my tanks back up. Been doing this for two years, so far so good.
