I just bought some nutra fin dechloranator and I have a question about how much to use. On the back it says to use 5ml per 10 gallons to remove chlorine and to use 10ml per 10 gallon to remove chloramine. My water has chloramine (I think) so do I really have to use 10ml per 10 gallon or are they just trying to trick you into using more dechlorinator so you run out faster and have to buy their product more?

no you have to use more. this is so you dont have high ammonia levels when it first breaks down the chloramine to ammonia then it furthur neutralizes the ammonia into a less toxic ammonium

Just buy Prime :nilly:

But for nutrafin, I'd just go by what the directions say. It needs to break the chlorine/amine bond. Then it's got to neutralize the resulting chlorine and ammonia. So it may need more???

You can email you water provider to see if they use chloramines during certain times of the year or year round.

My provider only uses during summer. So when I do my daily 50% water changes for my discus, I don't use dechlorinator. I just age the water overnite to dissipate chlorine.
