has anyone ever used sodium thiosulfate before?how is it?

this stuff is way cheaper compare to normal dechlorinator you buy for your tank, I though it might be useful to post this for those that are interested. Just wandering if anyone has ever used them before.

I know some people here mix up their own, I personally don't but I would be interested in doing it if people give enough positive input!

I want a 55Gallon drum of prime.

I use prime and don't mix my own simply because I don't know enough about the other stuff. I'll stick to what I know works and doesnt harm my fish for now.

Sodium thiosulfate is the main part of all the store bought 'dechlor' products.
If I have the choice, I just use that. (I use AmQuel as well from time to time.)

Just be aware of your mixing ratio. I wouldn't ever use it in a system/tank with animals. It tends to knock down your disolved oxygen levels.
