Yes, but I would have some other fish in the tank or you are liable to have a dead cichla on your hands. From my experience the dovii will be much more aggressive at a much earlier age than the cichla species. Good luck.

I dont think i would do it. I used to keep pbass and have found they dont do well if they get bullied and will often die due to stress. Your best bet is to just pick which way you want to go. You can keep several pbass together, and can only keep one dovii or a breeding pair. They are both awesome fish. Your main difference between the 2 is dovii have ime better personality. And the best way to describe pbass is like keeping a school of dolphins(pbass are very hyper). Either way you cant go wrong I think youll be happy either way. I know for me ill never be without a dovii .

I'm thinking of going to divide my 180l and have 2 of each in half and if I get a male dovi keep that if not keep the cichla. The best fish I ever owned was a big male jag so another parachomris will be good.

Sounds like a good plan. If you liked jags youll love dovii. Any idea what type of cichla youll be getting?

If thats what they are then yea they are pretty easy, the only drawback is they are I think the largest species. Want to say they can get 36". So very large tank is needed for adulthood.
