Can I put fake plants zip-tied to rocks in my jags tank with some drift wood and a huge PVC pipe? Or will the jag eat the decorations?

He will when bigger tear the plastic plants probably while moving them but what you have sounds fine.
Mine shreds silk plants but plastic ones seem to hold up well.

Unfortunately with most bigger cichlids, you are going to be subject to their own interior decorating tastes.
Put the plants where you like them, but they'll just wind up somewhere else after a few hours. Your idea of the zip ties is a good one. I usually silicone a bunch of heavy gravel to the base of the plants so that if they get moved, they still sink and don't look too terrible.

I use plastic pond plants in my jag tank they are larger and more heavy duty weighed down under big chunks of slate i have seen them tug at them but only break off small peices once in a while u can have plants just put somthing heavy on them a brick or somthin.
