I'm looking to make a background and other things to place in the aquarium but I'm concerned about painting...is there a safe paint or lacquer or protection coating I can use to make all items safe for my tank...I currently build slate caves and use 100% silicone really wish they made that in a spray...On the show tanked they make all sorts of stuff and I'm dieing to see what I can create safely

Check out the DIY section, there are at least a few people who have made their own backgrounds, so i'm sure if you look around you'd be able to find out what types of paints and materials are safe to use in an aquarium...

I'm trying to figure out the same but currently I use concrete mix and they have four color mixes you can buy just nothing really colourful that I have found like that show lol but with this mix I have made backgrounds and cliffs and such after two or three coats of the concrete I use a all natural stone sealer to seal and then run thru an empty cycled tank or I have used the bathtub for various hours at a time to release any debree after all that should be good to go ohh and I use one inch styrofoam and cut and shape pieces then silicone them together then everything above lol I'm going to try to post a couple pics of some that I have done in the next few days hope you have fun know I do prob one of the best parts is building your own environment!!!!!!
