So things are going well with my red dragon FH Atlas. I'm curious about adding some more decorations to the tank. I know they are a hybrid but I am always into the natural recreation. What would be the way to go here? I have PFS as a substrate and he has a flower pot cave (I know it's not very natural but it's his home.) Would he like some driftwood, a few rock piles, plants maybe I'm not sure. If it is not recommended for his safety what about background? I have a blue one now I just don't like the color it's a funny looking blue. Just trying to make him as comfortable as possible, I mean so far so good his color has deepened and his nuchal hump has grown quite well. I am waiting on my LED lights to come in as well as air pump and stones now to accompany my two AC70's. Just trying to give myself a present that's good for him to.

I have driftwood with mine and they seem to like it in there. Had large rocks and they would bump their heads a lot so I wouldnt go there. The driftwood may color your water a bit but that dont hurt anything unless it bothers you. I also have plastic plants with the weighted gravel looking base that work well. The fish can move them around and they stay down!

Thank you for your reply, the tannins do not bother me as I had driftwood in other tanks before. I have a few pieces laying around but I may go on the hunt for more, do you have any pictures of your set up?

Your fish doesn't know he's a hybrid. :) I like the natural look no matter what kind of fish they are. I just wish I could keep plants with my cichlids. I like lots of driftwood and a few rocks here and there.

I know he doesn't ;) but it's hard to make a "wild" type set up when he doesn't really have a wild location which is why I was looking at general info. I think I may go get some more driftwood soon.

if you want natural cover the pot carefully with larger rocks and just find some unique pieces of drift wood

Not a bad idea at all! I'd have to move the pots location it is caddy cornered and it gets poop behind it so I have to move it every day to vacuum. I am liking the sound of that though!

Yeah, the problem with this one is the way the water flows in my tank the poop gets pushed to the rear right corner which coincidentally is where the pot is. I might try putting it in the center.
