I have a 7" azul and I just bought a 4.5" kelberi. The azul would chase the smaller kelberi every few minutes so I moved the azul to another tank.

How can I reduce the aggression with my young pbass? I want to transfer the azul back to the tank with the kelberi but I don't want them to fight.

I was thinking about buying 2 more 4-5" peacock bass to spread out the aggression and so no single smaller pbass would get picked on. I also remember reading that if you move an aggressive fish to another tank, wait a few days and move him back to your old tank, he won't be as aggressive because he doesn't feel like another fish is invading his territory. If I move my azul back to my other tank and have other smaller pbass with him, will that reduce his aggression? What ither things would you suggest?

you need to add dithers and some more bass but if they don't have enough room because your tank is to small....they will fight like crazy.

I have enough room. Its a 7x2x2 210g tank. I'm planning to get more small bass today and maybe some type of dither fish.

You got the right idea by adding more bass. Bass that young will fight, but not to the point of killing each other. As stated already, dithers work as well to.

Not necessarily aggression. Your axul just wants to eat the kelberi. Your only option is to let the kelberi grow out first. Even then the azul might assert aggression due to territory. Therefore, upgrade your tank.

He has a 2 cichla under 7" in a 7x2x2, why would he need to upgrade?

It's 100% aggression, he's not trying to eat the kel, he knows he can't fit it in his mouth, there's 2 cichla in that tank and the azul is claiming hes the boss, he only has 1 oher cichla in there, therefore he has only 1 fish to show he's the boss, more.bass and dithers will take his attention away a little bit.

x2 on dithers and more bass and I agree with sevank definately aggression, silver dollars, wide bars, red hooks, parrot cichlids, cory cats for clean up for small bass 3/4inch, or giraffe nosed cat gets large like the bass, oscars etc you get the idea.

I find tinfoil Barbs tend to work great for deflecting agression

I agree as well, my 2 azuls directed so much aggression towards my tinfoil barb only problem is they killed the poor guy. So now I have two red hooks that seems to work for them and funny thing is I have a spotted gar in there with them and they dont even mess with him at all just each other and the red hooks.

Here is my grow out you can see the dithers I always get them smaller than my bass. You can see the silver dollars in the back round center top and the parrot cichlic on the right the parrot cichlid behind the pvc pipe. Before the dithers my bass always were hiding and now swimming out in the open begging for food.
