I would like to Thank you Rob. You are truly a man dedicated to this hobby. Most people when giving a fish away would would prefer pickup only. But for somebody to drive an hour and x amount of minutes to give away a fish, just so it can have a good home, thats dedication. A great guy. Thanks again.

Sounds like a great story, what was the fish, and pics?

Glad it went to a good home.

The fish is a nice big 12" or so Oscar. Pretty sure its a female. I have her in a 75 quarintine right now. I'll post some pics when I get my camera back. Thanks again Rob.

Hey Jason,

Thank you brother, I appreciate the good word!

I hope you enjoy the Oscar. The poor thing was cramped in a 55 gallon tank its whole life. It belonged to one of my aquarium maintenance clients so the tank was only serviced once a month :( When I first started working with her, she had one of the worst cases of hole-in-head and lateral line erosion I have seen. There has been much improvement with medication, improved water quality, and diet.

These fish can be difficult to place and I know Jason has a nice big tank waiting for her. I'm sure she has nothing but good things to look forward to for the rest of her days.

Good luck and thanks again Jason. Hope to hear from you soon with some pics and an update.

Best Regards,
Rob

The Oscar is now out of quarintine. I didn't notice any anker worms, or anything. and she was becoming more active in the 75. So I moved her into my 125 community tank. She finally has room to move around. She is very pretty and quite docile. I take it she has been fed only dry goods and what not. She has no interest in feeders.

Actually, her owner occasionally gave her rosie reds. I discouraged this because of the inability to do frequent water changes. I also encouraged him to feed frozen krill and bloodworms occasionally, which he did.

I recommend frozen peas from time to time. All of my Oscars have loved frozen peas. Krill is great stuff. I keep a compost bin full of redworms and my fish love those.
