Does anyone have a good source for 2-3" deep river stone similar to the attached photo?

I know Drfostersmith sells the stone but I am not sure of what size their stone is.

Thanks

What do you recommend for getting it clean? A lot of soaking and scrubbing?

Home Depot and Lowes has them. I've used these type of rocks then switch to a finer rock due to the fish food falling between the rocks and the fish cannot get to the food. IMO, it's not a good idea. Here is a picture for you to use as reference to see what it looks like.

Thanks for the heads up on the issue with the food, I had not thought about that.
No problem. I just didn't want you to learn the hard way like me.:nilly: :grinno: If you like rock substrate then I'd recoomend getting pea size rocks. After that you can add a few large river rocks to make it look like a river. Another idea is to leave one side of the tank bare bottom to use for feeding and build a slope of river rocks on the other side of the tank.

A garden shop wal mart kmart home depot lowes. But they are hrd to get in etween to clean. I have some in 1 of my tanks along with some regular gravel. I wouldnt use this as the only substrate in my tank if I were you.

I'm thinking I might go with sand and use some of the rocks to add some depth to the floor but eliminate the food issue.

Is the large crevice issue due to cleaning or to the fish not being able to get the food or both?

the foster smith stone is the biggest you'd want. any bigger and its hard to clean
