Las night I was wondering if deer antlers can be put in a tank without harming the fish or introducing diseases. I know this kinda stuff happens in the wild, when deer and elk lose their antlers and velvet and it ends up in a stream or lake. Currently I have 1 antler I found, I have not treated it with any chemicals. I want to use it like driftwood. Also wondering if it will sink?
I'm not sure if this belongs in G. discussion, but for such a random topic I figured this would be the place.
Any info or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Shed antlers are fine. Ensure there's no velvet left on them and they're ready to place in a tank. These sink on their own. I use deer, elk, and moose antlers in all my alkaline african tanks. Antlers will boost your pH so, I wouldn't recommend them with fish requiring acidic soft water.

What about with a skull from a deer?

Thanks for shedding some light on this matter, oddball
:) He said "shedding". :D:D.
Guess I need to start hunting again. Free meat and tank decor.
Zip tie the bones back together, add some colored led's, plunk it in the tank, and give the fish a christmas yard ornament.:ROFL:

Oddball thanks for the antler info. I have problems with my ph going low after a few days so maybe i'll try and throw in some antlers to keep my ph up...
