I have a small Jack Dempsey with funny shaped bottom lip, its V shaped kinda like the Blood Parrots i have seen.. Is this something he may outgrow or will he be deformed for life.

facial structure deformities are one of the most common in fish... and I've never heard of a fish outgrowing such deformitites...

most likely will stay that way, why not take it to the fish store and get one that doesn't have that.

Some people wouldn't care about the defect and would raise it anyway but I think the majority here would prefer a show quality fish. After all the time and money invested in this hobby people want something to show off. My previous female Festae had a slightly crooked mouth deformity. The lower jaw was to the right but you could only tell when looking at her head on. She was a perfectly beautiful fish in every other way and so I didn't let it bother me. I loved that fish in fact. So I guess my point is to judge how bad yours' is and if it will bother you enough to trade it out for another fish. I believe keeping a fish you love will inspire you to give him the best of care.

i just bought a 7" GT that has a slight deformity in his lips. sort of looks like the Elvis lip curl. lol. other than that, he's one of the nicest GTs ive seen and i love him! the deformity doesnt affect the way he swims, eats and interacts w/ other fish so i dont see a problem with it

I certainly hope it's not as bad as your avatar's mouth deformity.
