I picked up a Red Texas from Petsmart the other day and his coloring looks really good. Upon further inspection if noticed that one of his eyes is clearly smaller than the other one. Has anyone ever seen this before? Or maybe it's just a fish that the breeder would normally cull? It seems to be pretty healthy otherwise so I don't think it's sick. I'm trying to decide if I should just take it back to the store or grow him out and see what happens. I will try to post some pics later if anyone is interested.

If you bought it from a chain petstore like petco petsmart etc than odds are that when they were bred the bred related fish like brother to sister. This makes the offspring come out with defects it's sad but defects like that are becoming more and more common since my 5 years of fish keeping

Naw he will probably be just fine but to some, defects like differences in eyes and fins is just undesirable. But most likely he will be fine it's just a matter if you like him like that or not

Ive only seen this once at am lfs. It was a red dragon fh. It was real nice with good kok but i didnt pick it up because of the eyes
