My LFS i work at has always kept a large odd catfish in the display tank. Our Albino Channel Cat died from poisoning a few months back and we've been waiting for a replacement. As none has come, i decided to buy something and grow it out. I was at my favorite LFS yesterday when i saw this poor fella floating in the disributors shipping bag. (I'll post pics soon as wife brings camara home.) He has no right pectoral fin and a double fused Dorsal fin. Is this common? I've seen many many small RTS and this is the first i've seen with birth defects.

not sure if its common or not but id snatch it up before some person who doesnt know how to take care of it does. Think of it this way, its alot more rare than other cats because of its defect. plus uve had experience with catfish and you have MFK as an information resource. Who better to take care of a deformed fish than someone like you? You dont want some little kid or old lady buying the cat and not knowing how to care for it and the cat suffering

Oh yea, i bought it...for free! owner didnt think he could sell it so he marked it as a DOA an gave it to me. I'll keep it as long as i can before i risk my 5" delhezi then it goes to work

haha nice, well if ur looking to give it away or anything id love to have another RTC

sorry for the lack of detail. It was a little difficult to hold him one handed.
