Deformities in shortbodies

I was at a lfs yesterday and for the first time saw a tank full of shortbody albino senegals. I was shocked to see that out of 30 fish in the tank, only 2 had straight spines. All the rest had a severe kink in their spines, most with their heads and tails both angled up. I managed to pick this little guy out of the bunch. He's got an irregular scale pattern and a nice plump body.

well seeing how SB IS a deformity...thats not surprising

I saw my lfs got a bunch of those short bodies too.. $10 each


I didnt get any, because they were so small, I thought they wouldnt make it
 
I thought it was more of a controlled selective breeding thing. Maybe my lfs got a bad batch. I don't think they're gonna be able to sell most of them. The salesperson actually sounded surprised when I said I wanted one. I guess he had given up on them.

yes, thats the store!

I seen them for awhile, its been there for a month or two

sometimes they sell weird and rare stuff, I seen them sell blue phantom pleco, baby FRT, 1 ft aba aba, mantis shrimp, nile monitor etc etc
 
I don't go there often but I like to stop by once in a while to look for oddballs. I stared at the tank for a long time and I think there may be just 1 more left that doesn't look like someone bent it in half.
