Because of having about 300+ gallons of water in my tiny room it gets quite hot and humid. A simple solution is to leave my door open but I like my privacy. Another solution was to use a fan to blow air out of my room which I have been doing but it doesn't help nearly enough unless I crank the fan and that becomes far to noisy. So I decided to try and set up a dehumidifier to pull the water and heat out of my room and dump the water into my tanks. My only question is, is this safe? I see no reason why it wouldn't work but I want to make sure that the water will be safe for my fish. Any thoughts or other suggestions are quite welcome.

Interesting idea but have you seen what the inside of them look like after a while? Not sure if you'd want to dump/drip moldy water back in the tank but you may be on to something here....Maybe have it drip through a pre filter with carbon etc? That may work.

I think the copper/aluminum coils might leach metals into the condensate.

There was a thread on this a while back. I don't have a link, but you might search a bit.
