So i wanted a way to turn off my filter while feeding my animals so the filter does not suck food in. Floating food and surface skimmer can be a problem. But i wanted the filter to turn back on automactially cause if not i would forget.

With some research and help on other site i came up with this!

At school i have access to a lasser cutter so i made a cool box for it but there are many ways to inclose it. I bought a MX046 delay timer, a 110V relay, and some wire.

This picture is a bit blurry but you should get the idea.

when you push the button the curcit board is activaded for a certain amount of time which you can adjust from a few seconds to about 10 mins. with the switching out of capacitors this range can be bigger or smaller but that is beyond me and not neccary.

So when the board is activatated i have it open the relay and power no longer flows to an outlet my canister is hooked up to. After the delay timer stopps the relay closses and power flows again.

So basically it acts like a switch on a timer to stop the filter. Here it is installed.
