This is probably a dumb question but I haven’t moved a fish in so long I’ve just forgotten... So I need to move a delhezi from an established tank to another established tank. He’s outgrown where he is at. Do I need to acclimate the same way I would for a new fish from a store or can I just net and move since the two tanks are both from the same water source and the water chemistry is the same? Both established for roughly a year.

hello; I have faced this a number of times. I have done it both ways. Most often I just net from one tank to the other if the temps are similar. Odds are with you for the most part this way.

I do sometimes take the extra effort and time to acclimate much as I always do when bringing home a fish from a shop. This is the less risky method if I am not in a hurry or have some special fish I do not want to take any extra chances with. While two tank in the same fish room may be pretty close there can be some differences. Slow accumulation likely is a bit of over kill, but ………...

Temp is the same. All fish have been through the same treatments etc, he was just alone to our size on. He just grew fairly slowly and nothing else has been moved in so lomg I legitimately couldn’t remember if I needed to. Appreciate the quick reponses. I will be moving it from a dark bottom to a white bottom so I am curious to see what color changes occur.

The other reason I questioned it is because I’m doing a big cleaning currently and I do not have another bucket to drip acclimate him. I haven’t used one in so long for anything they’ve all been repurposed. It’s nice getting my maintenance down to no mess and no buckets etc.... until I need one haha

He did not like being moved. Breathing is still a bit labored. Monitoring and waiting to see how he does.

Hello; Usually only takes a few minutes for a moved fish to settle in after an in home tank to tank move. Hope the fish makes it ok.

Should settle down. Just reduce stress.
