Hi after losing my petco Senegal I gave up looking for a bichir. I never see bichir in the pet stores and I wanted one that was on the small side 12"-14".

So I went to the LFS to get some blood worms and I had to look at the tank. What did I find that swam right up to me a delhezi bichir. Well I had to have it I have wanted a bichir for so long and this fish store has good stock better then petco.

He is 4.5" long and so cool.

What should I feed him? Will he take pellets with time? I have bloodworms, beef hearts, and some other frozen foods. Will this guy like to eat snails? I have lots of rams horn snails. Should I dig up some earthworms?what the best thing to feed them?

Here he is

delhezi are my favorite, at that size get him started on hikari carnivore pellets. bloodworms are great, cut up pieces of earthworms, small cuts of tilapia/raw shrimp are good, but typically a base diet of carnivore pellets with some worms or fresh fish mixed in occasionally will be a good diet. congrats!

I recognize this poly, you got it from pet station... I was so tempted to pick him up, I went there today and he was gone ;) I have a job interview there tomorrow so maybe well get to meet if I get the job.

Tilapia and NLS pellets. :)

Cut up raw shrimp, beef heart, tilapia is what I feed mine. Congrats on your del and nice picture...

Probassfisher - Haha yeah I got him today. I could not pass him up sorry. I must have just missed you how funny. They need some real fish people at that shop. The new fish store in town behind port of subs will be looking for help soon. They really need a freshwater fish person.

I will try and get him on pellets. I have 2 old 5-6" pictus cats that are fast and eat everything that falls to the bottom. Will this be a problem? Or will my bichir get faster at feeding time? I will get some shrimp for him.

I fed then blood worms late well after lights off to try and throw off the cichlids. Well as soon as the bloodworms hit the water the pictus cats were on the move. I hope my little bichir will be ok. If I have to I can set him up with grow out tank.

Thanks guys.
