I've had this delhezi for 2 weeks. I noticed a day or two ago that the edges of his tail has turned black. Is this fin rot?? He's 3.5 inches in a 10g grow out (will be moving to a 75g in a couple weeks). Totally active, healthy appetite, rapid growth, no other visible anomalies. 80-82 F, ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, nitrate is < 20 ppm, pH is around 7.6. This is higher than the ideal range but is the same as my 75 and I've never seen any fin problems with other fish; I'd rather just let it be instead of messing with it. He's captive bred so I don't think it's a sensitivity issue. 20-25% water changes every day/every other day because of frequent feedings and the fact that the tank wasn't completely cycled; it was seeded with filter media from an established tank. If it is, how should I go about treating it? I have erythromycin on hand; I could get some aquarium salt. I just don't understand how it could be fin rot with the water quality >.< Someone on another forum said that as dels grow they can develop a black rim but it's rare.
I've never heard that before and I can't find anything else about it.
