I had my delhezi for maybe 2 months now and its 5inches. It never seems to be eating but has been living? i try to feed it earthworms, frozen bloodworms, black worms, shrimp, and even carnivore pellets but nothing seems to work? Idk what else to do or feed it, i feel like trading it before it dies or something bad happens to it because it was around $30 from my lfs

We have a sticky on this, so read that too, for more insight.

Some polypterids can stress easily, and will stop eating for a while, and it's not unusual for this hunger strike to last months.

One item I noticed you don't have on your list of foods you've tried is tilapia fillet.

Even new fish will usually be enticed to feed when tilapia fillet is offered. Be sure to chop it into small pieces so the fish doesn't have to struggle to eat it, and see how that works.

When bichirs try new foods, they will taste it and may spit it out and eat it again several times. If the food item is too large to easily eat, they may not readily attempt to eat it again.

hope that helps.

Tilapia fillet canbe purchased cheap too.

thanks but he looks at the food and arches his back ready to attack the food then he never attacks and eats? :( when i first got him he was a slow bichir from the start so idk if that helps? haha all my other bichirs always steal the food no matter how much i put in he never eats it

Have you tried tilapia? Usually if they refuse other foods, they will go for tilapia.

I might go to the food market later then :) o i read the sticky about poly`s throwing a eating fit and i feel better now

Good, the worst feeling is when you're stressed over your fish, when they're supposed to give us happiness lol
