I have had my delhezi for about 3 years and he is stuck around 7-8". He is one of the most aggressive eaters in my tank but does not seem to grow. I bought him with another delhezi that ended up dieing about 2 years ago and the one that died grew very fast. Maybe he is stunted for some reason? Or he just has reached his max size?

Just worried about him one day getting eaten by one of the bigger bichirs one day.

to my knowledge probably CB.

you could says genetics played a role or maybe it's still growing just really slow.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but I think this thread would be perfect to post this question (maybe it may help with why your del has stopped growing). What would the typical growth rate be for a delhezi? I got mine about a month and a half ago and has grown ~2 inches so far (from ~3 inches). Does the growth tend to start slowing down after a certain range?

I have had my Delhezi for nearly a year now and he/she sits at about 8".

I got my Endlichiri and Senegal also as juveniles a few months ago and already they have reached the same size as the Delhezi.

Initially, I was worried that they were going to be eaten by the Delhezi, but provided they are fed often you will be fine. Extreme hunger is what will encourage Bichirs to resort into eating each other. I went to my LFS today, saw a 14-16" Endli Bichir with Congos and Senegals varying in smaller sizes and all seemed to be fine even in the relatively small tank.

Mine are living in a 135g (US).
