i bought a delhezi from a LFS probably like 2 weeks ago and he just seems so uninterested in all the food i try to give him.

i've tried guppies, market shrimp, frozen blood worms, massivore, and beef hearts. nothing seems to work. is there anything i can do to get the little guy interested in eating again?

his tank mates are 5 clown loaches, 2 indo dats, 1 silver aro, 1 raphael cat, and a senegal bichir all of which are healthy and eating everything i have to offer them.

does this normally happen with new polys? or should i be worried?

they are know to go on hunger strikes from time to time but depending on size this could be a bad thing, if they below 4 inch i would be concerned. however are you sure he is not getting to any food, maybe just scraps that the other fish leave. if you feed a lot its possible he is still eating just not at the moment you are feeding. if possible try monitoring him in a separate tank

happened to me recently, should you'd be worried? NO, because mine is fat still n is very greedy now. Just keep doing what you've been doing, yours will eat in no time.

I would do what Evil says and move him out and see if he is eating on his own try some earthworms cut up if you can get some mine go nuts for them.:)

My dels can't resist live earthworms / red wrigglers either.:D

Any signs of health issues? Emaciated body / concave stomach? Parasites? I'd also quarantine him in a nice quiet tank where you can observe him closely and note whether all food is truly left untouched.

O

there's no big health issues that can be seen actually. the only reason why i got him was when i saw him in the stores tank, he looked really healthy he was active and was looking pretty plump. the lady at the store i went to said he eats a grip of blood worms but when i got him home he sort of just idles next to the top of the overflow.

thanks a lot for the suggestions though guys. i'm gonna go with evil's idea and put him in a separate tank and watch him closely. hopefully he's okay.
