so ive owned my delhezi for about a year now, and i just came across something that mentioned external gills, what are those? and one other thing , is there any way to sex these guys by looking at them, mine would be about 6 inches right now with some black bars but none of them are a full bar yet.

^Yup^ External gills about 80% are a younglin trait that disappears forever the other 20% comes back but still disappears past 12"
External gills are seen in very young poly's. Your 1 yr old del will have long since lost them.
All poly's are sexed the same way, by examining the anal fin. I believe Beblondie may have stickied an illustration showing the difference.

ok, well i tried to get a pic of him today but he didnt want to come out of hiding so maybe tomoro, the reason i ask about the external gills is because ive had this guy since he was about 2-3 inches long and as fat a noodle lol.. now ive never seen external gills on him i swear.
