delhezi stripes?

I have a young del, and i was wondering if he will start to develop more stripes as he grows. Right now he is prolly around 4" and has some black stripes/blotches towards his tail on top. will he get more stripes and will they get larger?

no yours is probably captive bred and only wild caught have stripes

It wont "grow" any more stripes than it already has.

CBB dels rarely grow stripes

Just after the larval stage, the pattern development stage is very very brief, where pattern turns from a network of horizontal lines, to the complexly detailed patterns that form a basic pattern of spots and stripes.

To sum it up, what you see is what you get when it comes to just about all bichirs, except maybe ornate slightly.


A delhezi with spots, or half stripes, etc.. (usually captive bred on a farm) will never develop the stripes of wild specimens.

Mine has a few marks towards the tail, but sadly these are our normal captive bred delhezis.
