where the fish are at...
how do the stripes on delhezis develop??? i've noticed that most young delhezis are virtually stripeless. do all of them eventually get stripes or are there a few that reamin stripeless. if so, why is this???

i think some of them are just like that. gotta find one with good lookin saddles

they keep whatever they are born with, basically if you get one with no stripes, it will no develop any. the stripeless ones are all genetics and selective breeding possibly

so basically they are born with the stripes??? mine and all the others that were in the tank i picked them from had no stripes...they are 1-2 inches and still have evternal gills...so he wont ever get stripes then???:irked:

If it doesn't have stripes now odds are it won't develop those well defined stripes dels are known for-Anne

if you go look at the picture logs for the delhezi's you'll notice the stripes do not change at all from baby to juvenile and to adult size, they are born with the stripes, and keep the pattern the rest of thier life

Got to take your time to pick them out carefully. I was at Ocean Blue for 20mins staring at the delhezi deciding which one to pick out. There were a few in there that had stripes.

Hate to disappoint you buddy - I actually have a delhezi with really weak stripes. I bought him at like 2" figuring the pattern probably intensifies...it doesn't. He's like 6" now and if possible his pattern is MORE muted. SORRY! but at least you are not alone in your frustration! :)

:irked: arg. there must be something i can do....maybe something that will increase color...i'll try carotene injections when he gets larger. not. well i noticed that mine has weak stripes too...but as i look closer to the tail i notice that the stripes seem to darken. since i'm new to polys can someone tell me if color is most intense at the head because the hormones for the color are produced there (this is the case for koi) or is there something i'm missing....
