Delhezi....

im getting a 120 gallon tank here soon and plan to move my large delhezi in the 120 gallon and get a few more how many delhezi bichirs will fit in a 120 gal with
4 leopard ctenopoma
3 african butterfly fish
3 african knife fish
its gona be pretty planted and gona have monopi root sand really gona see if i can get the dels to breed along with african knfie and ABF. im think a total of 2 males to 4 females would be fine with dels right? If i got room i might think about adding a school of 8 congo tetras....

Sounds like a nice setup. I have a syno angelicus in my tank with upper jaw bichirs it gets along real well.

does anyone know where bichirs lay there eggs what season they breed in???? Just trying to look for triggers and habits of really any kind of bichir or if people have info on delhezi bichirs that would be cool....

sounds like a nice setup but i would worry about some of your stock - the tetras might be food for a large del- as would the butterfly fish, when the dels come up for air!

African butterflyfish may not work as they might get eaten. They only grow to 4" and I have a friend who got a 11" delhezi ate a 6" silver arowana. The rest will be fine as I also have 3 ctenopoma at 8"+ mix with my large bichir and they do just fine.

i had my big delhezi with some ABF for over a year but sold them when my old ornate tryed to eat them but he was around 16"-18" when he decided to jump out of my tank after i sold the ABF....... so he should be fine with ABF i really dont know how the tetras are gona work but i want to try them.... my big delhezi wont ambush feeder platys any more i got to hand feed him or he refeuses to eat for a week till hes hungery then hes a beast...... he ate around 12 giant danios in 3 days buy hideing in the plants so ill have to see...... i think if hes well fed he wont bother them but u never know till u try might be a expensive mistake but if it works out it will look really nice....

no clue about breeding but I think beblondie posted the spawning season of bichir in one of her stickies.
