I'm kind of a nube when it comes to compatibility of fish and for the past month now I've been raising some pseudotropheus demasoni's (beautiful fish) and some noncichlids as well. They all seem compatibile but I'm very interested in aquiring a couple peacock cichlids but I know if this might be an issue. Does anybody have any experience with these two fish? Any advice would help me out.

How many Demasonis do you have? They can be quite nasty especially if not kept in good numbers.

I've seen male Demasonis kept in all male tanks with Haps/Peacocks before.. but they probably had about 20-30 Demasonis to keep the aggression down.

I've also read horror stories on here and other places of Demasonis taking out all the other fish and then one Dem taking out the others until he was the only one left.

That's all I got, but I'm sure there are others here who have kept them together or have more knowledge on mixing these.

Generally it's not a good idea to mix peacocks and mbuna. Especially really aggressive mbuna like demasoni.

I had a male Ruby Red (German Red) with my 12 demasoni and he was always hiding and had some nipped fins. When I got my additional 7 demasoni (a month ago), I took the Ruby Red out and gave him his own temporary tank. He currently looks a lot better than before . . . color and health wise.

I wouldn't suggest adding peacocks based on my experience unless there's a tough peacock out there.

I got 18 demasoni's in a 75gal with a trio of eureka reds. After 1 week, my male peacock's fins were all torn and he went from a nice orange red to almost tan. Funny thing was the demasoni's average around 2" and the peacock was full grown.

I agree with the other posters here, don't mix dems with peacocks. I currently have 9-10 dems in with 9-10 yellow labs and so far I haven't lost any fish. My dems have also spawned for me. I've noticed three of my females are currently holding right now.
