What kind of substrate do u have on your tank? Looks great for eartheaters.

It is Tahitian moon sand made by carib sea.

Looking nice, very nice.

Can't say much else because I'm filled with import law fueled jealousy ;)

Thanks Japes! :)

Your tank is inspired me to do a lighter substrate.. I think the dark sand does drown out alot of colors, especially in my orange heads..

I bet my leucosticta's would look better in lighter substrate too..

VERY NICE!

What's your pH? Jeff is selling some nice specimens but I worry that my tank isn't acidic enough (6.5 now).

pH is still fairly high. I've tried everything to bring it down. The next step is to do RO water, but the fish seem to be fine so far. Its been a good 3-4 months.

I'm sure they are fine day to day, and yours look very healthy and happy. Could be a problem for breeding but what's the chance of that anyway :D. It was also mentioned that lower pH brings out more color, but again yours looks great...

I guess I've convinced myself they are not going to die in my tank:D

Yeah, i've read that same stuff but I've experimented with alot of stuff and the pH doesn't seem to budge. These guys grow extremely slow, probably half the rate of my orange heads, I picked these guys up 3 months ago and they have only put on <.5". Color hasn't changed much, maybe a little red/green on the tail and anal fin but I have faith they will color up when they get a bit bigger.

I'm still considering letting these guys go.. I am going a different route and I want to take down some of my tanks. 5 tanks to maintain is a little too much for me.
