Dempsey shape - Your thoughts?

I thought I would show you my latest Dempsey. It would appear that his growth has been stunted as he is only slightly over 7 inch in length. He is still big and heavily built. I wondered if anyone knows anything about cichlid back arching? Also his bottom lip over laps his top lip quite strangely. Someone on another forum said it could be due to glass banging or just because it has not attained its full length yet. Also someone else said he is a little on the thin side, what do you think? Could he gain a little more weight maybe?

What are your thoughts on his general shape everyone?

Regardless he is still a really nice male and although his shape is different to other Dempseys I have seen, I really like his big built style.

He looks old, I cant tell if he is skinny or if it is just the curvature of his back.

What size of tank was he in before you aquired him?

post more pics, maybe some that show his width
 
actually Ive seen this only one time and it was a huge 10-12" male jack dempsey. it looked similar to this but much more curved and it was really thick even for a jack dempsey. I have a 7" with the same coloring but its completely straight, i wonder if this has something to do with jd's tho...
 
i wonder if he hit the glass hard and broke his back but was able to heal...i have a female convict that got crushed by a falling rock a month ago but shes still hanging on lol
 
I decided to phone the store to find out a few more details from the guy who sold it me. He phoned the previous owner as he knows him and he said that this Jack had his jaw broken in a fight with a managuense around a year and a half ago when he was smaller ... which explains his twisted head and his dent on his one side. Will get a photo up in the next few hours of what I mean. He maintains that it is only 3 -4 years old...But he does look old.....Its tank size was a 340 litre. 75 Gallon.

Crazy about the broken jaw seems to be fully healed though.....getting pics now
 
Even though the body shape look a lil strange, nice color to your JD.
 
I am surprised his powerful jaw was broken. Must have been just before he gained all his strength. Your right, looks like he has been in quite a few fights in his time. He needs to call it a day now and retire. lol
