Hello everyone,
Can Denison Barbs/Roseline sharks be kept with Silver Arowana, Golden Pearl Arowana, Severums?
Asking coz the barbs are pretty fast moving wrt to the Arowana and Severum..
Thanks.

If you start out small arro with large Denison to grow out together and don’t feed the arro live food, tehey will get used to each other and get along. Ive seen a full grown Asian arro housed with hundreds of cardinal tetra in a 300+ gal tank.

Denison and arro make good combination as one stay on top and the other near the bottom. I keep large Front with Denison and small tetra. Predictors lost their instinct to predate on small fish if they are fed with pellets exclusively all their life.

Doesn’t matter fast or not. In a confinement, if a predator decides to hunt down a prey, it will eventually be cornered if it runs out of place to hide.

Denison and tetra are open swimmer and do not hide.

Dennisons are not cheap, not where I live anyway. Only a few weeks ago I paid £12(uk) each for four of them and they were only 1" long! Add into the equation that you need a shoal of them for them to prosper and you could be looking at a very expensive shoal of feeders! Yes they have a good turn of speed and could out manoeuvre a much bigger fish but would you really want to risk it? And if they are going to be harassed all the time then the beautiful colours they exhibit could be completely washed out due to stress.

If you want to put a shoal of fish with an aro look no further than what joey king of diy did. He had a huge shoal of endlers with his aro and because they are that tiny i don't even think the aro knew they were there! Saying that though, his endlers did seem to hide in the boulders all the time so the tank just looked like it contained one aro! A bit pointless really.

Denison cost about the same in US, because they are all wild caught. There is concern that their population will be depleted in the wild. In comparison to community tetra which are dirt cheap, they are expensive. But few community tetra, if any, can reach 6 inch, school consistently, and as peaceful and long live as Denison. These are reasons why Denison is popular schooling fish for large cichlid.

Denisons are being bred in captivity now quite readily actually. My 6 are captive bred and actually locally too. I paid about $6 each for around 1" long. Still wouldn't do anything over 3" with an arowana as a dither. I believe that is perfect size to elicit a feed response. And no you can not take the predator out of the fish. That is a basic response and it will never completely loose that. Sorry but that thinking is just incorrect. It may be less apt to eat a live fish but believe me if hungry it will, and the way they are goofy wired with their hunger strikes and what not those are going to be expensive snacks eventually.

Here in India, Denisons are around $1 each for 2.5" to 3" sizes...
:) definitely dont want them as feeders...
