denitrator?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
do a search on here youll find a couple posts about them. for a home aquarium not really worth it just do more frequent water changes.

My nitrate removal system is WC and plants. I don't like adding more chemicals than I need to.

It's for my 550 gallon aro tank, I already change 35 % of the water weekly and have a couple plants I have got the nitrates from 90 to fairly average at 60-70 but I would like to see them below 50. I only feed fish 6 times weekly aswell, I don't want to change more water because it increases stress. I will do a search.
thanks

If I were you, I'd think about installing a continuous drip system. You could change more water and reduce the stress on your fish. Hook up a filter to remove chlorine and chloramine and an overflow to drain. Set it to about 30 gallons per per day and adjust the flow until your nitrates are at the level you want. there are several threads on this around here

If only I didn't live in an apartment.
