How is it? Is it effective and worth it?
Any chemicals in there I should know about? I plan on having some fish sensitive to chemicals in the planted tank (puffers, eel, loaches).

I’m mostly looking for it for my sword and aponogenton.
I’d also like to get Val at some point.

I've never used it, but the swords and valisneria get most of their nutrients through the substrate, so root tabs might be a better option for you. I have never tried my hand at aponogenton so I can't give you much advice there. Also, the only thing that I have found harmful to certain small fish and invertebrates as far as planted tank additives go, is liquid carbon, such as Excel.
