I went to the Denver aquarium this week to take pictures and see what they have in there collection. To my suprise they have this huge tank with pirahna's in it. The tank is labled red belly Pirahna's. You be the judge.

Nice looking pirayas. You'd think an aquarium would know the difference.... :irked:

The general public only know about the "red belly piranha" so I wouldn't blame them that much for labeling it that. I'm sure they are aware of it too.

Funny thing is that I actually told the guy at the exit. He said to me oh I never even looked at them. It seemed as though he either thought I was full of crap or he just did not care. Needless to say I was very disappointed. :screwy::irked:

They are definitely aware..

It happens a lot in public aquaria, they change stock at one point but don't change the sign. I'm sure you could go to any aquarium and point out mistakes. It's not that they don't know but the aquarists (the people who stock and take care of the exhibits) are almost always behind the scenes. Often cases, they aren't the ones who even do the artwork and labelling in front of exhibits.
