Yesterday, I woke to find my two favorite angelfish beat up. A platinum and a black. So I did the customary move to a sick tank, medication, etc. Hoping to bring them back. Thismorning they were dead. Ugh. My two koi angels were untouched. I think my syno did it. I don't want to get rid of it, by any means, but I don't think I have a tank for it. I'm just upset because I've gotten about 20 angels in the past 6 months, and only 4 lived. Now I have two. The angels around here have been HORRIBLE! I'm just really discouraged at this point. It's my Mom's tank, and she wants the angels really bad. It's in the living room and according to her, it has to be a "pretty tank" without any carnivorous beasts in it. lol If it was up to me, I'd put my Jag and Compressorcep in there for a grow out, but, oh well.

Thank you for listening to my rant.

RIP fishies

I know how you feel with the angels...even with the person that breeds all of them for the lfs around here they still dropped like flies with me too. Maybe you should try africans...All that I've gotten have been hardy and meet the "pretty" standard that girls and maybe moms seem to like lol. Like another member told me on here angels are so inbred they are very disease prone.

I am a girl btw. lol! My water isn't soft enough for discus. I've bred angels before, and sold them to stores, so it's not like I've never had them. And the water I have now tests the same as when I bred them, so I know it's not that. I have noticed that they are getting very inbred and that a whole line of new colors/varieties are popping up and I think it's weakening the strain. Maybe I'll start breeding back to wilds and see what happens.......that's if I can get any to live. I'd love to do the african set up, but I'm not sure that would tickle her fancy. lol I have a jag and a compressorceps, but I doubt she'll go for the switch. I can put the angels and bettas in the 20 gal x-tall I have. Maybe I can talk her into it. lol

maybe try those small african chiclids
they should be colorful as well as interesting look at

I would love to do a mixed cichlid tank. Colors and more colors. I've wanted to for a while now. Maybe this will give me an excuse to do some switching and shopping!
