I derimmed by 20 gallon. I know I'm possibly reducing the structural integrity of the tank but it's only a 20 gallon. I'm getting a Mr. Aqua or ADA rimless soon but decided to just try this out with an old 20 gallon to see if i'd even like the rimless design on a functional basis. Knowing the risks, I removed the old "oak" trim. I may turn this tank into a low tech planted soon.

haha...that actually looks great. Can't wait to see the plants.

Would it be better only to take off the top rim only and can you have the same risks?
How did you do it?

I have a 20 gallon derim. the tank is 20 years old and has no structural problems it doesnt even bow out when filled. I think it is great.
