Cool I have some of these as well and they’re a lot of fun to watch. They bred several times in tubes and pleco caves. The male broods the eggs and the eggs hatch out fine but the fry remain glued to the inside of the cave and won’t come out.

I’ve waited for up to a week or more after hatching hoping for them to swim out or for the male to lead them out but it never happens and the fry starve to death. I’ve also tried suctioning the fry out with a turkey baster or blowing them off but they are stuck on good and won’t release without a bit of force and are usually injured.

So easy to breed but can’t figure out why the fry won’t go free swimming. Have you bred them and if so, you have any tips on raising fry?

From what I read about them they are easy to raise. Seriously Fish says to pull the parents after spawning but I would pull the eggs. The babies are large enough to eat baby brine.

Yeah, they’re easy to breed and have good hatch rates but I have that weird issue with the fry not ungluing themselves off the inside of the caves. They just hang there until the starve..

No I have only had them for a week or 2.
