well, destroying might be too strong but i have a regular black stand and i just want it to look aged, worn, shabby or something. whats the best way to "fast-forward" time?? :D any ideas?

Paint a color you like then wipe it with stain on a cloth.

Paint with a course brush making sure there are brush stokes for the stain to settle into.

Wipe off the stain after it slightly dries wiping against the grain of the brush strokes.

Takes practice, I will be doing this with my 240 ply build.

Should come out looking something like this;

If you buy a cheap media blaster from harbor freight you can blast the wood to bring out the grain. You can also stain then sand lightly in some spots and stain darker. A blow torch and a sander works good also. It all depends on the look you are going for. I would try some stuff on scrap wood and see what suites you best.

I built a faux-antique steamer trunk one time, I used various tools in my shop to dent/scrape the wood, including flogging it with a piece of 1/2" chain. It put a lot of interesting dents/dips/scrapes in the wood, then finished it using the method described by John73738.
