yes if they have same age the bigger usually is male,
here (my city) the breeder usually sexing BGKF at curve between head and stomach but the fish must have size about 6 " (so its depend on your eye)
females have pot belly, male doesn't. male is very slender and definitely due to this slenderness, their face looks more elongated like horses. females kinda reminds me of cute puppy. I say good 2 years before you can tell them apart. 15cm+
