devil and pleco

I have a 30 gallon and i have a juvinile red devil and and last night just purchased a 6 inch pleco.The red devil keeps attacking the pleco what could i do to stop the fighting.

Provide more hiding places for the pleco or take the pleco out until he is bigger.

Just separate them, the devil you have won't tolerate plecos.

Sadly, you must separate them. That Pleco will be killed in the 30 gallon for sure.

yeah, providing some type of hiding place that the plec can get into and the red devil can't is about the only way you'll be able to keep them together. even doing this won't provide the best quality of life for your plec. I can't imagine a plec would be too happy having to spend all its time in hiding. granted most plecs are rather reclusive but once they're comfortable in the tank they can become somewhat active.

I think in the long run you and the plec will be better off by moving the plec to another tank. if you're worried about algae you could try getting a couple of large snails.
