Anybody on here know the best dewormer medicine brand for Redtail Catfish? And how to properly use it since i never used it before just heard its a must use for redtail if you want it to grow healthy and big.

Does it have worms? Giving unneeded medication to healthy fish can give you unhealthy fish and medicine that won't work when you need it to.

Noo i don’t think so. Just the fish eats weird sometime it eats until its stomach is full and times its stomach is flat empty and doesn’t eat at all the fish looks healthy and all just im not sure why its eating habit is kind of weird thought it could’ve been worms or something.

Check its poo for signs of internal parasites first... coz as mentioned above, you dont want to un-necessarily medicate a fish...

Just feed a varied diet and a lot of water changes. It should eat. If it’s not eating and thinning out then consider meds.

Generally speaking, I would agree with this - but not when it comes to deworming medication. I have never heard or read of any type of worm building a resistance to any of the more common deworming agents. In fact most are quite safe to use. The biggest problem with dewormers is getting the dose correctly (not overdosing), and choosing the right medication as some only target certain forms of worms, such as Praziquntal, which is only effective against treating flatworms/tapeworms, but has no effect on various round worms. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fa091

While I generally don't deworm all new fish, those coming from areas where I know there is a high risk factor, such as flowerhorn from Asia (where they are commonly fed live blood worms and/or tubifex) I always deworm on arrival. (with Levamisole)
