Dempsey has been only eating some NLS algae tablets. Doesn't want to eat the regular NLS pellets. He's always been a picky eater. Loves earthworms and bloodworms but have not been feeding anything but the pellets and tabs for the past week. A convict in the tank has had a bloat issue, but no other symptoms. The convict is in a hospital tank. To further complicate things, the Dempsey is probably stressed due to a fight he had with the melanurus.

The poop is whitish, not really clear. It is long with seemingly intermittent 'sacs'. Not really thread like.

Should I medicate or wait? Does this appear to be stomach lining or worms? Tank is a 150G shared with other large cichlids. Thanks. 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 15 nitrate.

Try treating feeding it a few skinned peas with a couple pieces of epsom salt embedded into it. See what happens.

Hey AquaNero. That fish will not eat peas. Never has, never will. I've dipped them in garlic guard as well, and he will not touch them. I'll try embedding a few grains mag sulfate in his algae wafers. Surprised he likes those. He doesn't usually like the hikari ones, but seems to like the NLS AlgeaMax wafers for some reason.

Try that. If not then try General Cure.

Just got over a long and expensive white feces situation in my tank. Hopefully. But what ended up working for me was Clout along with epsom salt in water and soaking food that'd they eat. Nothing else worked and I tried everything. Hope he gets better.

Thanks. Did you try a syringe/pipette with a mix of metro and epsom? I'm prepared to go that route if need be. Since I have a convict that seemed to puff up a little bit and is not eating, I'm thinking hex but who knows. The dempsey is eating some food which is good. Were your fish eating before the Clout? One more thing: Did you just follow the Clout instructions or use another method?

No my fish were only about 2.5-3 inches so I didn't do the syringe. I just soaked NLS pellets in metro/epsom for those who were eating. Once only 2 of 6 were eating I did Clout as a last resort.

I did follow the directions as far as dosing and WC but skipped a day and did a 5 day treatment. So 4 doses of clout total.

If your fish is big enough try the syringe... From what I've read it works.

For me it was for sure something in the water though. Haven't seen white feces since a day after the 5 day treatment which has only been 4 days ago. It looks like Clout finally did the job that Metro wasn't able to.

I have a thread named "Throwing in the white flag" in this section that I kept updated with everything I tried. Might help you out.

Update: Haven't seen any more white poo, or any poo at all really. He is eating the algae tablets still and some worms. Not interested in pellets, but that's typical.
