I have 4 4" yellow perch in a 56Gallon planted column tank with a few peices of drift wood. i filter it with a fluval 305 and a another hang off the back style filter i cant remember which brand off hand, i also have a powerheader putting oxygen into the tank.

water: ph:7.5
ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
nitrate: 30ppm
alkinity: good

My problem first stemmed weeks ago when i noticed my fish were acting funny and i noticed a few dots on one the fish i assumed it was ich because they were rubbing everything and breathing heavy etc. i treated it for two weeks with salt and no progress in them, i stopped treating them in order to get a better feel for what might be wrong with them.

the symptoms they all have are, rubbing anything, rapid movements, heavy breathing, gasping (or yawning), holding one fin by their sides, using one gil to breath and one has a very blue tint to his skin. they haven't lost interest in food. im also a bit puzzled by the appearance of white poop aswell as normal coloured black/brown (maybe sexual secretions?)
today i noticed that he has very very tiny dots on his sides. but its very hard to see any colour because of their naturally gold colour.
does this sound like velvet symptoms?????

Doesnt sound to good. when my bgk had velvet he didnt have dots i woke up one morning and he was just covered in bluish white patches. Id try using an anti parasitic or ich treatment on the tank see if the fish pick up at all. sorry I cant help more good luck.

its been super difficult to diagnose them because they are native fish and i dont wanna jump to a conclusion and dose the tank with chemicals it doesn't need. thanks for replying hopefully someone out there has had the same experience and has some advice
