An island somewhere......
Hey guys... I've just downsized my fish room and will probably be running 8-10 tanks that about 60 gallons each. I wanted to get a central air pump for the room and have decided against the Linear Piston pumps due to budget and sheer volume those things produce. I've now leaned towards the Diaphragn Air Pumps from Jehmco that are only 15 watts and power 8 -15 outlets. I figured I'd use 2 sponges per tank so it's would work. I just want to know if anyone has this same pump and if so, is it typically under-rated and can actually power more than the quoted outlets? The life span of this specific pump?

go to google check out and search for luft pumps. You can find them very reasonably priced, and are much better equiped to run this many sponge filters.

Yeah... Luft pumps are a lot cheaper than the linear pumps and most diaphragm pumps but they're so darn loud! Not to mention the life of the pump isn't as good as the others forementioned.

av-50 the av30 might jump around I'm not too sure on that but a friend of mine had something similar and his bounced all over the place..

Both Kens and Jehmco are very reliable. If you buy diaphragm pump buy a repair kit as well. You never know. Linear pumps are the best ...especially for oversized fishrooms :D
