Diatom filter...

does anyone use these filters, and if you do, how well do they work? i found some, and they claim to filter out particles as small as one micron. just wondering what your opionion on em'

They work fantastically! They polish the water to crystal clear! They even will filter out free swimming Ich parasites too as Ich is bigger than 1 micron.

Agreed. They're a bit of a pain in the arse to set up, but they work amazingly well. You'll wonder why you never had one before.

great filter run it about 2 hours a week, rest of the time power filters and canisters

My opinion is it is always great to have them whenever the time to use them comes. I have a 2nd hand diatom filter that I have only used once because my tanks no longer have the tiny free flowing particles in them. My other filters does their job as well so right now, I have no use for them but when the time comes, it will be used.

nope only takes a few hours to clean the water...
